This magazine Was an excellent resource for anyone interested in squeezeboxes of any type. I had subscribed since almost the first issue, and managed to get the first issues while they were still available.

Sadly, the magazine has died, and efforts to revive it failed.

My tuning article in another part of this web page was first published in Concertina amp Squeezebox (In somewhat different form, since as I have learned things I have modified the text appropriately.) The article got its start as a letter in response to a request for information.

Now -- this should be viewed as only a rough guide, as there is a much better resource for Dating Wheatstone concertincas made in and after 1910.

Visit http://www.horniman.info And look up the date of manufacture of your concertina (and other information, sometimes in rather cryptic format) in Wheatstone's actual ledgers.

Or -- go back to my front page and follow the links to buy your own copy of the ledgers on CD-ROM -- in a format which will work on Windows, Macs, and Unix boxen. (Though they only promice the first two, I have verified that it works fine with an old browser (Netscape 4.77) under Sun's Solaris OS, so it should work in others as well.

Concertinas made by Steve Dickinson under the Wheatstone trade mark have serial numbers commencing 60000.

This list will appear in the next release of the Concertina FAQ.

Note that I have had to block any messages above a certain size, thanks to the massive flood of "SWEN" virii. Anything that gets near 90,000 bytes *will* be blocked. However, it is bad practice to send attachments to anyone unless they agree to receive it beforehand -- especially so in these days of virii running rampant.
